New Additions to Our Family
Today we have had new additions to our family. We heard that that there were many Pardhi families from the Amravati District had come to Lonavala. These people belong to a caste who are often nomadic and as Lonavala is seen as a wealthy area with many tourists, they had come to beg in this area. At midnight we went to Lonavala and visited the railway platform to make a survey and see what was happening to the children. There we found 10 or 15 little ones – small children between the ages of 6 and 8 who were in great need of care. These little children were either alone or only had one parent with them – and after discussion with those around them, they have come with us to live at Shikshangram.
And as the summer holiday break is over more very needy children have come to us from remote places. Our organisation and shelter is becoming known for a place where homeless families can send their children so that they can manage to get schooling. The parents are unable to afford to send their children to school – and so they have asked us to help them – and help their children to have the chance to learn.
